Meet our Board

Kevin RenshawKevin Renshaw – Kevin is busy at work with CSN as the new Artistic Director and is extremely honored and proud to be a member of this wonderfully talented theater troupe. Kevin’s first encounter with CenterStage North was in 2010 when he was cast as Duncan in Leading Ladies. Kevin sat in the director’s chair for Neil Simon’s Oscar & Felix: A New Look at the Odd Couple and Ed Simpon’s The Battle of Shallowford. Kevin is an actor, director and writer with a degree in Theater from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. When he is not on stage or directing, Kevin enjoys watching the Braves with his amazing wife Jenifer and children Kirk and Isabelle. And before every show, he thinks to himself, “ I hope my mom, Betty would like this…..”

 

 

Karen Worrall_resizeKaren Worrall – Karen has been involved with Centerstage North, as an actress, director and board member since 1990, when she was cast as “Truvy” in Steel Magnolias. She met her husband, Steve, during this production,and the two have continued to work with CSN since. Some of Karen’s favorite CSN performances include Kate in The Taming Of The Shrew, Sissy in Come Back To The Five & Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean and Lexie in The Dixie Swim Club. Her directing credits include Chapter Two, The Fantasticks and Driving Miss Daisy. Karen also spent over 20 years directing and teaching drama for kids at the Art Place with Curtain Call Youth Players, as well as at Murdock Elementary. She is the published author of three children’s plays. She is now working with her husband,Steve Worrall, in his law firm, Georgia Family Law. They are very proud of sixteen-year-old daughter, Amanda.

 

 

Cheryl Baer_resizeCheryl Baer – Cheryl became involved with Center Stage North during the production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest in 1981. She auditioned for “Nurse Ratched” but was not right for that part. However, she agreed to work on the show to find props and has been involved ever since. She has served as President, Secretary, Newsletter Publisher, and Treasurer. She has also directed many plays and stage managed many more. Her favorite roles include “M’Lynn” and “Ousier” in two different productions of Steel Magnolias; “Aunt Eller” in OKLAHOMA!; “Betty” in The Foreigner;” the “Mute” in The Fantasticks; “Dinah” in The Dixie Swim Club, and most recently “Virginia” in Beached Wails. She is a founding member of Atlanta Weimaraner Club Rescue works tirelessly rescuing, re-homing, and rehabilitating Weimaraner dogs.

 

 

Kylene Compaan_resizeKylene Compaan – Kylene first became involved with CenterStage North in 2012 when she was cast as Speed in Oscar & Felix: A New Look At The Odd Couple. Since then she has been seen as Claire Garrett Burnham in Tokens of Affection and Sharon Lake in Play It Again, Sam. On the other side of the curtain Kylene has been Assistant Director for Battle of Shallowford and Director for Squabbles. In addition to performing in a variety of other theatres around the Atlanta area, Kylene is an avid swing dancer, vocal performer, and businesswoman, owning and operating the Chattahoochee Coffee Company with two scenic locations in Atlanta. Kylene also serves on the board of Happy Hearts, an NGO in Somalia, and serves in an administrative capacity with Justice Rising, and international aid organization working in war zones such as the Democratic Republic of Congo. Kylene is also completing her first two screenplays and hopes to use film and theatre to bring awareness to international justice issues.

 

Steve Worrall_resizeSteve Worrall – Steve Worrall has been involved with Centerstage North for over 30 years. He met his wife, Karen Woodford Worrall, while serving as Assistant Director for Steel Magnolias in 1991. He has served in every artistic capacity in productions from scenic design, lighting, acting to directing. He has also served as Secretary, Vice-President and President of the Board. He has performed in such shows as Taming of the Shrew, The Fantasticks, and Whose Life Is It Anyway? His directing credits include The Foreigner; The Nerd; Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean and The Hound of the Baskerville. Most recently, he directed Play It Again, Sam. He also enjoyed working with his wife’s company, Caravan Theatre Company, performing in On Golden Pond; Same Time, Next Year and Driving Miss Daisy. Steve is a Marietta lawyer with his own firm, Georgia Family Law : Worrall Law LLC, on the Marietta Square, where his practice is concentrated in family estate planning, adoption, probate and family law.

 

 

Phyllis Giller_resizePhyllis Giller – Phyllis has been associated with CSN since 2005 when she appeared as Lorraine Sheldon in The Man Who Came to Dinner. Some of her other roles at CSN were Jackie Garrett in Tokens of Affection, Miss Tipdale in Not Now, Darling and her favorite role, Florence Foster Jenkins in Glorious. Although she has acted in many other venues in Atlanta, she thinks of CSN as home and is happy for this opportunity to give back and hopefully, help make this theater an even better place than it already is.

 

 

 

Matt Calvo_resizeMatt Calvo – After a roughly 18-year hiatus Matt returned to theatre in 2011 and there’s no going back. Some of Matt’s shows include Center Stage North’s Squabbles, Christmas Belles, and a turn as “Felix” in Oscar and Felix: A New Look at the Odd Couple. It’s a thrill to be a part of CSN in any way possible and he looks forward to helping continue the tradition of excellent theatre that this company is known for. Matt hopes to one day answer the Bernard Pivot questionnaire…
